Festival of Rugby – the Peebles RFC Festival of Rugby kicks off on Friday 2nd August down at the Gytes at 6:00pm when the under 16s sevens, involving all 8 Borders clubs – supported by The Laureate Society who have provided the trophies - takes place. Admission is free.

The first round draw is:

  • Duns v Hawick
  • Peebles v Selkirk
  • Melrose v Jed
  • Gala v Kelso
with the winners going into the cup competition and the losers into the bowl.

Saturday 3rd August sees the playing of the Peebles Sevens – sponsored by Greenfield Marquees and So Stobo - the first of the Kings of the Sevens tournaments for the 2019/20 season. This is also the very popular So Stobo Ladies Day held in the marquee which starts at 12 noon.

The 12 participating clubs are drawn into 4 pools of three as follows –

  • Jedforest, Kelso and Selkirk
  • Edinburgh Accies, Heriots and Melrose
  • Watsonians, Gala and Biggar
  • Peebles, Berwick and Hawick

thus ensuring that each gets at least 2 matches, with the four teams topping the pools going on to contest the semi-finals.

The first tie kicks off at 2:00pm

Admission is £10, concessions £6 and under 12s free.

There are food and beer tents on the ground and attendees are reminded that no carry in of alcohol is permitted.

Sunday sees the conclusion of the festival with the playing of the Peebles Colts Sevens – sponsored by BARC Travel - which features 12 teams drawn in 4 pools of three giving each team at least 2 matches.

The first tie kicks off at 1:00pm and admission is free:

  • Pool A Melrose Wasps : Kelso ‘Quins : Jed Thistle
  • Pool B Peebles Colts : Carlisle Colts : Gala Wanderers
  • Pool C Hawick Youth : Alan Glens Colts : Duns Colts
  • Pool D Biggar Colts : Tynedale Colts : Selkirk Youth

Borders Clan Rugby - Taster session this Sunday 4th August 11am - 12pm at the Gytes. Just before the Colts 7’s.

Clan rugby is a brilliant form of the game that enables mixed ability/ disability teams to play, bond and enjoy the camaraderie, in the way that we all know rugby is great at.

Rugby Summer Camps - Peebles RFC will be holding Summer Camps for children this summer, at The Gytes:

  • Tuesday 6th to Thursday 8th August - P6 to S2 Girls Only
  • Tuesday 13th to Thursday 15th August - New S1 Boys Only

These sessions (10am to 12noon each day) will be ideal for both existing players or anyone new to the game of rugby. Costs are £5 per session and children MUST be pre-registered on the camps by filling in and returning the application form. Please contact Club Development Officer George Blair on here or via and he can forward the form.

Season 2019/20 – Peebles’ national competitive fifteens season opens on Saturday 31st August with a National League Cup preliminary round fixture at home to Whitecraigs from Glasgow and the following week 7th September the National League season opens with an away fixture against Gordonians in Aberdeen.

Membership – members should note that subscriptions are now due – details of membership categories, payment amounts and methods are available via the club website and also on the poster at the head of the close in the Eastgate.

Forms can also be had at the bar in the Clubrooms where payments can also be made.

Volunteers and Sponsors Evening – Next Friday evening 9th August Peebles Rugby Club holds its annual Volunteers and Sponsors Evening to which all volunteers and sponsors are invited starting at 7pm for some complimentary drinks and nibbles.

Ahead of the coming season it's a chance to express our thanks to the many volunteers putting in the many hours of unseen work across the year.

From seniors and over 35's to the youth, school and mini sections there can be over 200 players on any given weekend during the season.

All of this is simply not achievable without the hard work put in by the volunteers.

Darts – Next Sunday 11th August sees a change of sport when the the Peebles RFC Summer Darts competition takes place in the Eastgate Clubrooms intending players are asked to contact Jim Currie on 07742 919694. Entry is £6:00. Registration is at 1:15 on the day and the first oche is at 2:00pm. The prize fund is a minimum £300 and players are guaranteed at least 2 games.
