Senior Rugby

Peebles RFC 1sts – Peebles RFC – sponsored by Stobo Health Spa – return to league action tomorrow when they travel through to Glasgow to play Whitecraigs in a Tennent’s National League 2 fixture. Kick off is at 3:00pm for travelling fans – there may room on the coach for travelling supporters departure time is 11:00am.

Last week the weather was the big winner with the early morning snow causing the postponement of the match v Falkirk – along with many other fixtures – Tennent’s National Division 2 was a total wipeout save for the Friday night derby game in Glasgow where GHK won 34 – 3 against Whitecraigs.

Peebles Reds – Tomorrow Peebles Reds – sponsored by the Crown Hotel Peebles – have a home fixture when Corstorphine Cougars are the visitors to Hay Lodge Park for a Tennent’s Reserve League East 2 fixture – hoping to maintain their rich vein of form which sees them unbeaten in the league thus far. Kick off at 3:00pm.

Last week Peebles Reds fixture with Caledonian Thebans was called off when the opposition were unable to raise a side.

Junior Rugby

Colts – Tomorrow Peebles Colts will play the rearranged Borders Semi-Junior League Plate semi-final against Selkirk Youth at the Gytes. Kick off is at 2:30pm for Colts fans.

Under 15 Pathway - Just to let you know that there have been a good number of Peebles players engaged with this year’s Pathways programme following the skills camps held in the school holidays. The boys have been playing for Western Warriors (Peebles/Gala/Selkirk/Hawick) against East Lothian Pathway sides.

It should be noted that the three highlighted players are still S2 but were asked to step up as they had stood out at the skills camps. A further S2, Finn College was also initially asked to step up but is out injured.


Events – Quiz Night 1 – tonight the Eastgate Clubrooms will be the venue for a fundraising quiz night for Peebles Burgh Silver Band. The evening starts at 7:00pm and the mental obstacle course at 7:30pm under quizmaster Steve Watts – teams of 4 are invited cost £12 per team.

Carvery – the Sunday Carvery will be back this coming Sunday 24th March from 4:00 till 6:00pm in the Eastgate Clubrooms – 2 courses £12 3 courses £15 – kids menu available. Booking advised – contact Andrew Shortreed on 07772834483.

Race Night – Next Friday March 29th the Eastgate Clubrooms is the venue for a fundraising race night by Richard Edge who is running the London Marathon for SIMBA. Tickets are £5 and can be had from Richard or Stuart Macdonald who can be contacted via facebook.

Quiz Night 2 – on Friday 3rd May the Eastgate Clubrooms will be the venue for a quiz night to help raise funds for the Peebles High School under 13 and under 15 netball squads who have qualified for the World School Netball Cup. The evening starts at 7:00pm and the mental gymnastics at 7:30 pm. Teams of four are invited to take part – cost £12 per team. Teams should be registered with Morven or Andrea by email on or by text to 07960637054.
