On Saturday Peebles A travelled to Selkirk for a game against the Stormers, there was some hard work for the team of Ali, Robin, Eddie and Rhys before kick off this week as they tried to remove two big puddles from the playing surface that was holding a bit of water.

A bright start to the match saw Peebles regain the kick off and then maintain possession for the first 4 minutes working way upfield with a mixture of forwards and backs all handling well. Drew Moore running things from 10 had the ball moving well and some strong running into the corner by Ross Brown brought up the first score. A common theme from the past few weeks saw the conversion miss but it did hit the cross bar. 5-0

A scrum against the head saw the Stormers Take up some good field position and maintain it through kicking to the corners. A play across the field saw their centre take his chance at a gap and go under the posts. Kick was missed so 5-5.

Another long period of good play with Davy Cornwall and Jamie Menzies making some good ground Provided some more scoring opportunities but none of which could be taken.

A line out take by Fraser Dale with a good drive from the pack led to a pick from Ewan Jackson up to the line and when the forwards cleared it Drew Moore popped over the line for the second try. 10-5
We then made the same mistake again and the centre went through under the sticks again this time converted 10-12.

This led to a period of play from the hosts with Peebles pinned back in their half but having sorted out the defence the only way for them to score now was a penalty kick that was taken taking the score to 10-15 at halftime.

Half time saw the introduction of James Hamilton and Adam Clark to the game and a little reshuffle of positions.

A penalty was then converted by the Stormers 10 just after the break to make it 10-18.
Kieron Brown was then the recipient of first a pass from James Hamilton and then tackled by him as he was pushed into him.

A break down the right hand side saw Ross Brown go over the line only for the referee to decide after much deliberating that it was held up. The TMO was required but unavailable today. The resulting scrum had Kieron Brown get over the line with a drive from his pick up at 8 but also given as held up. Another scrum set up a couple of quick pick and go's before Adam Clark marked his return with a try. With the pressure on the Martin Clyde found his form and slotted the kick. 17-18

With 15 minutes to go Drew was shown yellow by the referee for what turned out to be a team offence of trying to get the ball out of the rucks when bodies are all over it.
The game then changed with a few mistakes creeping in up until the 38th minute of the second half when a penalty was awarded to us around 40 yards out. Martin Clyde stepped up and hit it true taking the score 20-18.

An unfortunate incident at a ruck in the middle of the field saw Murdo Anderson pick up a nasty cut to the hand, needing a few stitches and with the way he has been playing recently we all hope it heals quickly.
A last minute penalty gave Selkirk the chance to snatch the win but it was pulled wide. Leaving the final score 20-18.

A real gutsy performance again showing the potential we have as a team.
Man of the match this week was Ewan Jackson, ever present during the match and massive work rate once again.

Next week has the first of a double header against boroughmuir bears, saturday the 10th away then Friday the 16th at home.
