Pre-season training will take roughly the same format as last season.
We will start at 7 pm on Monday 11th July at Hay Lodge Park. It’s ok to train in T-shirt and trainers, but bring boots and a rugby shirt as well
We will train Mon/Tues/Thurs until Thursday 4th August which is 12 Sessions.
The plan is that early on, we will be doing running fitness on Mondays; Tuesdays will see some circuit/strongman/power training; and Thursdays will be back to running. At all sessions there will be some ball work and rugby games, with unit skills and team runs added as we get near the first warm up game on 6th August.
On the first night we will be having a fitness test which will comprise of
1. 1 x 800 metre run against the clock: 2. 5 x 22 metre shuttle run (110m): 3. the number of press ups in 1 minute: 4. the number of sit ups in one minute; and 5. the number of tackles on a tackle bag in 1 minute.
The results will be posted on the Club website, Teamer site and on the Club noticeboard on the Eastgate.
We will be having a warm up game on Sat 6th August, possibly against Premier 1 Melrose (TBC). We will then train on Tuesday & Thursday W/C 8th August, with a midweek fixture against Lasswade, new boys in Premier 3, as there is no Saturday fixture, because it is the Peebles Show weekend. (13th August) We train on Tuesday and Thursday the following week with an away game against established Premier 3 opposition, Dumfries, on Sat 20th August, and the week after this we train Tuesday and Thursday as the build up to the first league fixture on Sat 27th August.
We will have had 20 Rugby & Fitness Sessions under our belt by then, and we have to be ready for the kick off on the 27th August, as next season will be a massive challenge for the club as we attempt to move into the top tier of Scottish Rugby, and Premier 2 will be stronger and more competitive than it’s ever been.
