As is always the case in Borders derby matches the effort will be 110% with neither side giving or expecting any quarter. This game will be all out action and entertainment from the first whistle to the last. The match is sponsored by, the Peebles RFC Jerseystretchers, and Susan and Graham Bell, the match ball sponsor is Michael Gibson Painter and Decorator
Pitchside catering will as usual be by Thomson’s Snack Van with their varied menu of burgers, bacon rolls etc., and hot and cold drinks.
The Colts – supported by BARC Coach Hire – are away at Milntown to play Langholm Colts in the Borders Semi-Junior League. Kick Off is 2:00pm for travelling Colts fans.
Last weekend Glenrath Farm Eggs sponsored Peebles RFC got back into RBS Championship B action against Perthshire at the Gytes - the game going ahead thanks to the sterling efforts of Norman Elder and Graham Bell who forked the pitch to release the surface water which had accumulated due to the heavy rain – the squad gave their thanks by providing a 23 – 7 win and although missing out on a bonus point Peebles remain in the promotion hunt 1 point behind Howe of Fife with the same number of games played but with a points differential advantage of 27. This makes the return match between the two all the more important albeit that Peebles have still to travel to both Murrayfield and Hawick YM both potentially very difficult away games which will both have to be won with bonuses if possible.
The seconds – sponsored by First XV and rugbystuff.com – had their game against Kelso A in the Border 2nd XV Cup called off by the referee who deemed the pitches at both Violet Bank and Hay Lodge unfit for play.
The Colts – supported by BARC Coach Hire – also had their Borders Semi-Junior game with Gala Wanderers - which had been switched to Caberston Haugh - called off due to a waterlogged ground. The club gives grateful thanks to Walkerburn RFC for the offer of the use of their ground in an attempt to get the game played.
Warmest congratulations to Martin Cruikshank who won the SRU Try of the Month for November for his stunning effort against Hawick at Mansfield Park in Peebles’ Booker Border League victory.
