Last Friday’s match between Glenrath farm Eggs sponsored Peebles and Kelso fell victim to the weather when a frozen pitch forced a call-off.
Tomorrow Glenrath Farm Eggs sponsored Peebles return to RBS Premier C duty when they face West of Scotland at the Gytes – kick-off 3:00pm - in a match which is supported by George Tait and Son, Impact Landscapes, Glenrath Farm Workers, Hugh Stewart Construction, Andrew and Jim Warnock, Tweeddale Farmers, Lawrie and Symington Auctioneers and ‘The Country Bumpkins’. Pitchside catering by Thomson’s Snack Van will be available with the usual fare. The France v Ireland RBS Six Nations match will be shown on the big screen in the evening – kick-off is at 8:00pm.
The seconds – supported by FIRST XV and rugbystuff.com – are away against Gala A in RBS Reserve League East 1 at Netherdale kick-off 3:00pm.
The Colts – supported by BARC - were on a standby week but the management team have arranged to play a rearranged Border Semi-junior League fixture at Hawick PSA. The team needs game time before the National Knockout Cup games. The boys are to be congratulated on qualifying having achieved a top four finish in the Border Semi-Junior League at the cut-off date for the National Cup following some really hard work on the training paddock, in the gym and at game time throughout the season.
Sunday sees Scotland face Wales in Cardiff for their second match in this season’s RBS Six Nations – the match will be shown in the Eastgate Clubrooms on the big screen - kick-off is at 3:00pm.
Next Saturday – 18th February – Glenrath Farm Eggs sponsored Peebles travel to Hartree Mill for the local derby with Biggar in RBS Premier C – for travelling fans the kick-off will be 3:00pm.
The second XV – supported by FIRST XV and rugbystuff.com are also away from home with a fixture against Forrester in RBS Reserve League East 1 in Edinburgh kick-off 3:00pm.
The Colts – supported by BARC - play their first round National Knockout cup fixture away at Hamilton with the winners continuing in the cup against the winners of the Melrose v Stirling tie and the losers going on into the Bowl against the losers of that tie.
On Sunday 26th February – prior to the Scotland v France RBS Six Nations match which kicks-off at 3:00-pm – Jim Currie will be hosting his successful carvery in the Eastgate Clubrooms – the match will as usual be shown on the big screen.
On Friday 16th March there will be a quiz night in the Eastgate Clubrooms when teams of 4 will have their mental abilities put to the test – courtesy of quizmaster and question-setter Davy Cornwall. All proceeds from the night will go to Motor Neurone Charities.
