ONE CLUB AWARDS

On the evening of Saturday 20th April, Peebles Hydro is the venue for the Peebles RFC One Club Awards – sponsored by the Laureate Society. All sections of the club from the Piranhas to the OAPees will be represented.

Senior Rugby

Peebles RFC 1sts – On Saturday 20th April, the Peebles RFC 1st XV – sponsored by Stobo Health Spa – play their final Tennent’s National league 2 match of the season when Falkirk are the visitors to the Gytes. Kick off is at 3:00pm.

As is usual the lady volunteers will be at the dressing room end of the ground offering home-made soup, hot and cold drinks and their delicious home baking much appreciated by the home and away support alike. Gytes Gossip takes this opportunity to thank them for their efforts over the season when they have been there rain, snow or shine.

Sevens - Last Saturday the Peebles RFC sevens squad made the journey down to the Greenyards for the Melrose Sevens – drawn with Heriots in the first tie of the first round Peebles ran the Edinburgh premiership side close only losing by 19 – 22.

Junior Rugby

Colts – On Saturday 20th April, the Colts Sevens squad travels down to the Gala Wanderers Sevens at Netherdale where they are drawn in a pool with Hawick (13.54) and Duns (16.18).

Last Saturday Peebles Colts sevens squad travelled down to the Volunteer Park in Hawick for the Hawick Youth Rugby sevens where they were runners up in their pool beating Duns but losing out to Hawick.

Under 16 Sevens – Last Friday evening the under 16 sevens squad travelled down to Hawick – losing to Jedforest in the first round and then to Selkirk in the Shield.

Under 15 Sevens – Last Friday afternoon the Under 15’s sevens squad travelled down to Melrose where they did really well coming runners up to North Edinburgh Vikings in their pool, who went on to win the tournament. For your own information, NEV are a mix of players from Heriots, Stewarts Melville, Fettes, and Loretto!
Results were as follows:- President’s Seven 30-10 win; Hawick 24-22 win; North Edinburgh Vikings 10-26 loss; Gala 42-5 win

S1 Sevens – On Saturday 20th April, an S1 sevens squad travels down to Mansfield Haugh for the Hawick S1 Sevens – first tie is at 2:00pm. Peebles are drawn in a pool with Hawick (2:00pm), Gala (3:30pm) and Kelso (4:00pm).

Piranhas News - Piranhas One Club Awards was a great success on Sunday. P1s to P6s all got awards as did the volunteer of the year, Yvonne Cameron. All well earned and we hope that the Saturday evening at Peebles Hydro is equally brilliant. Easter Sunday sees reduced training. P2 and P7 are giving it a go, but please note the venue change. We will all be at Gytes from now on till the end of the season. Finally, the new kit offer is winging its way to you with samples available at various training sessions. Happy egg hunting!

Events

Quiz Night – on Friday 3rd May the Eastgate Clubrooms will be the venue for a quiz night to help raise funds for the Peebles High School under 13 and under 15 netball squads who have qualified for the World School Netball Cup. The evening starts at 7:00pm and the mental gymnastics at 7:30 pm. Teams of four are invited to take part – cost £12 per team. Teams should be registered with Morven or Andrea by email on wsg.quiznight@gmail.com or by text to 07960637054.
