This fixture against Boroughmuir Colts, last years cup quarter finalists was always going to be a test for this new colts side with 10 of last years successful side left to build and bond with the good group of boys coming up from the 16`s.
3 x twenty minute sessions allowed the two teams to mix and match players in positions and try things out. It was Peebles who started the brighter with the old men in the team leading the way with Brown, Daly (try scorer), Harrison, Clyde and Halliday showing how things are done with the new recruits settling in nicely.
The Line out was working well with Peebles taking both their own ball and the visitors. The scrum started well but had a rest in the middle session before taking charge again in the last 20. This gave the young half back pairing of Harrison jnr and Brown at stand off good ball. The backs looked dangerous with ball in hand and only some last minute tackles and slack passes not going to hand stopped another two or three tries being run in. There is work to be done but the game itself was a good start and with the work ethic of this new group the future is looking exciting for both Coaches and Players alike.
A good support is now a regular thing for these young men and it would be good to keep this going to encourage and develop our new team.
The Colts are grateful for the continued support of our sponsor BARC our first choice travel supplier.
