Four tries, two in each half after the first 40 minutes were up saw Kirkcaldy at the wrong end of a 5 try blitz that blew them away. When just after half time, Peebles took their feet of the gas and the visitor’s try got them back in the game at 18-11 in this Scottish Hydro Premier 2 match some of the Gytes faithful rued missed chances in the first half. Darren Kerr was the catalyst in the second half first sprinting over 50 metres for his try and then repeating it to set up the position for James Oakes’ pushover try, before David Anderson did the coup de gras on full time with his second. With this win the Tweed Homes sponsored team leapfrog Kirkcaldy into 6th place and mathematically guarantee Premier 2 rugby next season.

Tonight there is another Premier 2 game at the Gytes when Kelso, who beat league leaders Stirling County will be fighting for survival in Premier 2.

The seconds were at Hay Lodge and in a tight game narrowly lost out to Gala. Tonight there they play the same opposition in the Border Farm Feeds Championship, this time at Netherdale.

The Colts’ game against Langholm was cancelled at the weekend and not for weather. There were no referees available to take the game, so if there are any budding referees out there contact either the Border Referees Society or the Club Development Officer to get started. The game was played under lights on Tuesday night when they had a comfortable win as they try to complete their Border Semi Junior League. Tomorrow they are away to Hawick Wanderers.
