GYTES GOSSIP (PN 5 February 2010)

The frost put paid to all the games last weekend to leave another blank weekend for the club. This however did not put a damper on the sponsors event which went ahead regardless of the 1130 pitch inspection and subsequent failure.

On the plus side, Stirling County agreed to play the Scottish Hydro Premier 2 game on Tuesday evening game with an 8.00 PM KO. Alas, once again the weather interceded as we woke to a white curtain of snow on Tuesday morning which left no option but to postpone until the following Tuesday (still subject to confirmation) once again with an 8.00 PM kick off. Fingers crossed for third time lucky.

As mentioned last week, the re-arranged Scottish Hydro Premier 2 game against Biggar was confirmed and goes ahead tomorrow at Hartreemill with a 3.00 PM kick off, and dare I say weather permitting. The Scottish Hydro Cup/Radio Borders Border league match against Melrose will be scheduled later with a Friday night game being a possibility.

The seconds have another Border Farm Supplies Championship match away at Poynder Park, whilst the colts head to Neilson Park to play Haddington. The colts also have a backlog and have a re-arranged Border Semi Junior League match scheduled for 8.00 PM on Wednesday against Berwick, which will be subject to a pitch inspection should the Stirling County game go ahead the previous night.

The Piranhas are again in the Gytes on Sunday

... and of course the 2010 6 Nations kicks of this weekend with, on Saturday at Croke Park  14:30    Ireland - V -  Italy  and at Twickenham  17:00    England - V -  Wales, whilst on Sunday attention turns to Murrayfield  at 15:00 for  Scotland - V -  France.

All three games will be showing on the big screen in the Eastgate.
