GYTES GOSSIP (PN 8 January 2010)

Another weekend with no games for PRFC as the snow and ice continue to cover the ground.

The midweek game at Netherdale saw the South of Scotland win by a large margin. Peebles had 3 players in the match day squad, Ryan McConnell, who started at hooker, whilst Willie Aitken and Donald Sangster came off the bench in the second half.

The forecast indicating that the longest cold snap for several decades is expected to continue into next week, games are extremely unlikely this weekend and indoor training sessions are being organised by Willie Aitken and the management team.

The web site will be updated when new information is available and we will also notify Radio Borders to keep in touch.

To date we have already booked:-

Saturday          9th 1630 - 1730 @ the Gytes in the main hall

If you are not available for any of the sessions, please let Willie know.

John McGuigan
PRFC were saddened to hear of the death of former player, John McGuigan, after long illness and a heart attack which ensued.
John recently lost his son in a tragic incident in Iraq.
John played second row for Peebles in the 70s and 80s and was a regular extrovert star attraction in the Beltane Show. In 1984, when John ironically starred as Elton John he persuaded newsreader, Gordon Honeycomb, to take part in the Show on Beltane Saturday.
