GYTES GOSSIP
(PN 4 December 2009)
It was not a
good weekend for Peebles or Scotland as both narrowly lost games they should
have and could have won. The Tweed Homes men are stuck at 8 in the league and a
long journey and a tough game faces them tomorrow at Rubieslaw with a 2.00 PM
kick off.
On the other
hand, the seconds had a good win at Melrose, although going behind in the first
half they pulled it back. Tomorrow they will be at Philiphaugh to play Selkirk
Stormers for the third time this season.
The Colts win
at Violet Bank, against Jed who went home with nothing, on Saturday morning gave
the home side a chance to show off their skills. One of the downsides was the
amount of dog fouling that had to be shovelled of the pitch before the game
could be started, this despite the notices asking owners to keep their animals
of the playing surfaces. Mind it was done with a brand new spade purchased
especially for the job, but it would be much much better if dog owners would
keep their pets away from the playing surfaces with Violet Bank and Hay Lodge
Park being the most affected areas that PRFC use. Tomorrow the colts are away to
Kelso Harlequins.
This Saturday,
the Gutterbluids are running a coffee morning in the Eastgate Clubrooms, 1000 to
1200. The Gutterbluids are a voluntary group involved in many good projects
around Peebles and who support many other voluntary organisations such as the
Christmas Lights Association, so please support them and give generously.
Sunday
afternoon sees a different form of entertainment at the club. It is titled
"Take
That" and runs from 1PM
to 5PM. Entry for members and members’ guests is £5.
The web site,
www.peeblesshirepost.com, where
you can view Peebles games and other Peebles
videos has
made some improvements regarding problems that have been encountered due to
buffering Please leave feedback to let the site organiser know if you are having
problems viewing the videos on line. NB you can also download the file to your
hard drive and watch it from there.
