GYTES GOSSIP (PN 2 October 2009)

All square at half time, then Biggar pulled away for a bonus point win at the Gytes last week was a bit of a disappointing result for the Tweed Homes men last week. To make up for it there has been extra training in lineout skills for the forwards, so for the trip to Jed, who beat Kelso by the narrowest of margins last week, we can but expect improvement.

The return of a catering van to the Gytes last week seemed to be welcomed by some of the supporters who made use of the facility.

Alas a lack of front row, and only 14 players available as injuries and call ups to the 1st team took its toll meant that the seconds 3rd/4th play off had to be cancelled. Tomorrow, their first fixture in the Border Farm Supplies Championship against Melrose has been switched from Melrose to the Peebles (venue to be confirmed) with a 3.00 PM kick off.

The colts continued their winning ways with a comprehensive win over Duns and look forward to a visit from Selkirk YC who are unbeaten at the top of the table.

We hear that there has been a fair bit of interest in the Club Development Officer post. So if there is anyone else out there thinking of applying, don’t wait too long or you could miss an excellent opportunity for a career in rugby.

Peebles High School U15s were due to play their second round match yesterday at Musselburgh; the result if known is already available on the web site. If not it soon will be.

The Platinum Club is going from strength to strength. One would think that the Exec are buying all the numbers as another big prize heads to one of them. If you want to be in with a chance to win join now.
