GYTES GOSSIP (PN 11 September 2009)

Netherdale saw the Gytes men pull off another win over the maroons with 4 tries that gave them their first Scottish Hydro Premier 2 victory of the season along with their second bonus point that sees them get a mid table place in the table. The lead changed several times before the final whistle that allowed Gala a losing bonus point but no wins so far. Tomorrow Dunfermline, who are one place below in 7th and 1 win from 2, visit The Gytes for a 3 PM KO.

The Seconds romped to victory after a scrappy first quarter in the Border 2nd Team Development Cup at The Gytes last week whitewashing the Selkirk Stormers who were having their first outing of the season; skipper Graeme Hogarth opening the scoring and converting yes converting one of the later tries before giving players and spectators a bit of a laugh with another conversion. That win takes them to the top of the table with Gala not playing as Haddington called off due to player shortage. Not good news for tomorrow with the Seconds due to play Haddington at Violet Bank. Let’s hope they turn up - or that Bev is on the ball and gets a replacement game.

The Colts made it a treble jackpot as they beat Langholm at Violet Bank. They travel to Jed tomorrow. The Colts U16s game was cancelled due to waterlogged pitches at the High School with the same affecting the Piranhas.

The diary is pretty full for coffee mornings till the end of the year starting with one for the Piranhas on the 19th. More on that in the Piranhas news
