GYTES GOSSIP
(PN 21 August 2009)
By now the Preston Lodge game
will be over. Apologies if you used the wrong KO time I put in last week and
arrived 4 ½ hours early. It was of course an evening game at The Gytes where the
pitch is looking well maintained thanks to all the maintenance work that has
been carried out over the summer by SBC and the club, unlike Hay Lodge which
took a bit of a pounding again at the weekend. We will now have to see what
remediation will be needed to allow play there this season.
The first seven made the semi
finals at Kelso. They beating Howe of Fife and Selkirk before coming up against
eventual winners Melrose giving them their closest game of the day by scoring
more points than the combined total of Melrose’s other oppositions, Langholm,
Gala and Jed who only managed 14 between them compared with Peebles’ 19.
The colts’ first game at
Portobello had to be cancelled,
