GYTES GOSSIP (PN 19 June 2009)

Only 3 days until Beltane closes for 2009, but for the PRFC the next major event is the AGM on Wednesday night at 7.30 PM in the Eastgate Clubrooms. In addition to the usual business of directors’ and treasurers’ reports, electing the Executive Committee etc. there are important changes to the constitution up for discussion in order to ensure the club can continue to operate under the new licensing law which takes full effect on 1st September.

If you see low flying aircraft over Peebles, it might not be for a royal fly past as occurred last year on Beltane Saturday minutes after the crowning ceremony. Two 14 foot banners presented by the RAF to help promote the sevens in April disappeared (One has been located and is safely in storage to be returned) from the foot of Ven Law near the path that leads up from the bypass, and they are helping to look for them. Crunch unfortunately had to attend hospital just after the event and forgot to ask someone to collect them. If anyone knows the whereabouts of the other could they please advise a committee member so that it can be returned? Better that than having a couple of Chinooks circling close overhead.

Remember for members and guests tonight there is a free entry karaoke and disco night in the club for those over the age of 18, and a disco on Saturday £3 admission. Tomorrow afternoon from 1 PM sees the return by popular request of “Dazes” and it is a free entry event for members and guests, and I’ve heard a wee rumour that Forsyths hot pies will be on sale during the afternoon.

Enjoy the rest of the Beltane and have a good time; drink sensibly and remember we have a challenge 21 policy so have your ID with you just in case you look under 21 to our doormen.
