GYTES GOSSIP
(PN 12 December 2008)
With no games last week due to
the weather the players are literally champing at the bit (reference to where
they have been training for the last 3 sessions) to get back on the pitch.
Tomorrow Peebles visit Stoneyhill to play bottom placed Musselburgh. It is never
an easy game at our previous president’s old home ground, and Musselburgh,
despite their lowly placing have claimed the scalps of GHA who did not score
against them and Kelso at Poynder Park in a close game; their other win being an
away win at Biggar. They also ran current league winners Dundee close at
Stoneyhill losing by a solitary point, and lost away to Haddington by only 2. So
there is no doubt that despite being bottom placed, Musselburgh will put up a
very strong challenge to the Tweed Homes men.
The seconds will play Kelso,
currently 3 places above Peebles who are in 6th in the Border farm Feeds
Championship at Peebles High School KO 2.00 PM. With two games in hand, a repeat
of the earlier win at Poynder Park will do the Corus men a world of good. Also
at the High School, Peebles Thirds are looking to a third time lucky by actually
getting on the pitch for a game against Kelso thirds. It won’t be fast, but it
could be entertaining.
The colts are away to Hawick
PSA in the Lochcarron Semi Junior League, where they will be looking for an
improvement in this return fixture.
Sunday at the Gytes and the
Colts 2nds U16s will be on their second attempt to get their quarter final
national cup match against Dumfries underway at 1.00 PM. With no other
distractions that day, the boys would very much appreciate a big support to
cheer them on to a semi final place. Come along and swell the crowd, and join us
in the clubhouse after the game.
The Piranhas are running their
Christmas Coffee Morning 1000 to 1200 tomorrow morning and any home baking,
grocery items and other prizes for the raffle would be gratefully appreciated.
