GYTES GOSSIP (PN 28 November 2008)

Fortress Gytes withstood the pressure, just, last week, as Stewart’s Melville came back from an earlier deficit to equalise 2 minutes from time and give Peebles their second draw of the campaign; third place eluding them as the visitors stayed above.

Tomorrow it’s an early start to get to Braidholm the home of GHA, one of the early title contenders who have fallen a little by the wayside with a mixed bag of results. Peebles will go into this away match which kicks off at 2.00 PM with confidence after beating them at the Gytes earlier in the season.

The seconds made hard weather of it at Netherdale, where Gala bolstered by the 1st team reserves stopped Peebles getting a score. Tomorrow, there is no second’s game, but the thirds will attempt a start for the second time this season at Selkirk after their first game was cancelled earlier in the season.

The colts were also on the end of a big loss at Hawick, and will have no easy task at the High School tomorrow where Selkirk Youth Club will be the opposition at 2.00 PM.

On Sunday the Colts 2nds U16 play their postponed Quarter Final Cup tie against Dumfries, KO 1.00 PM at The Gytes. This is a big and very important game for the boys, so lots of supporters will be much appreciated to cheer them on.
