GYTES GOSSIP (PN 29 August 2008)

Hat Trick Hogarth

Last Saturday, the 1st team put in a good performance against Preston Lodge with Neil Hogarth getting another hat trick in this final trial game of the pre-season.

Tomorrow sees the start of the Scottish Hydro Electric Leagues with Tweed Homes Peebles making their debut in Premier 2 at Inverleith against Stewarts Melville FP who finished exactly mid table in that league last season. Returning from down under, Kiwis, Dan Boughtwood and Tig Jocelyn strengthen the first team squad.

The seconds start their campaign in the Border Farm Supplies Championship at Melrose against the side that finished only one place above them last season and are looking to better their final placing with a stronger squad this season.

The Colts are the only team at Peebles tomorrow. As Hay Lodge has not yet recovered from the Agricultural Show, they will once again turn out at the Gytes with a 3 PM KO against Gala Wanderers in their opening game in the Lochcarron of Scotland Semi Junior League; cutting their number of games from 4 in a week to just the one.

It has been reported that last Friday the Sponsors’ night proved very popular and a good evening was had by all attendees.

The new season fixture cards will be ready by this weekend and will be distributed to those members who have already paid their annual subscriptions.
