GYTES GOSSIP
Melrose at Gytes
Fourteen wins from their 16 games played and 78 tries scored. That’s
second-placed Peebles’ proud record at the Christmas break in their SHE
Premier III programme.
Instead, tomorrow’s opening BSPC Border League fixture sees Melrose
visit The Gytes (KO 3:00pm). Tomorrow also sees Peebles Under-16 open their
campaign in the Crawford Builders sevens series – previously played at Borders
pro-side games and now running in parallel with the BSPC Border League.
No-one needs reminding that Melrose are the only Border League outfit
that Peebles have never beaten. Not yet anyway.
Tomorrow is also a designated charity day in support of local worthy
cause “Make a Difference”. Look out for the charity bucket at the gate and
for the post-match raffles and auction later on.
Elsewhere, a long distance solo try by Calum Farmer was the reported
highlight of Peebles 2nds 5-32 Border Farm Supplies loss at Hawick.
Tomorrow brings Keith Nisbet’s men a friendly with Annan – but check
the noticeboard to confirm the venue and kick-off time.
Meanwhile, Peebles Colts reportedly have a weekend off following
Saturday’s exciting 29-27 friendly win over the Perthshire lads.
And finally, thanks to the generosity of a West Linton lady fan, there
were two Villeneuve prizes at Gala where Stuart Duncan and Ryan McConnell were
the winners.
President Shaw also deserved a prize for dishing out tickets to such a
vast array of supporters!
Let’s hope that he is equally busy at Beveridge Park on January 5th –
yes, there’s a supporter’s bus going.
Let’s hope too that folk copying the lady fan’s example means a
bumper prize draw at the Kirkcaldy game.
George, better bring the Santa sack with you on the 5th please, it may be
needed!
