GYTES GOSSIP
Netherdale Nailbiter?
Yes, it’s the talk of the town! No no, it’s not the Director of
Rugby’s moustache.
Instead it’s tomorrow’s table-topping Premier III clash at Netherdale
(KO 3:00pm).
About which Peebles ever-improving lock Ross MacNish says, “I can’t
wait for tomorrow, it’s probably the biggest game I’ve ever played in. And
of course we got a big lift from hearing the Berwick boys say after Saturday’s
match that Peebles were the best team they’d played all season.”
Fellow lock David Harvey agrees “Last time we played Gala we lacked the
belief that we could beat them. We don’t lack it now. We’ve a great chance
of going down there and getting a result – we should be pushing to finish top
of the table.”
Such is the interest in tomorrow’s nailbiter that a spectators’ bus
will leave the clubrooms at 12:30 and leave Gala post-match at 6:00pm. Those
interested in travelling contact secretary John Swanson.
Promotion issues apart, Peebles are of course hell-bent on continuing
their proud unbeaten record away from home which currently stands at 7 games.
Also joining the fans at Gala are Peebles 2nds who beat Kelso 15-6 last
week through 5 Keith Nisbet penalties.
“It’s the best he’s kicked in years:” sighed an appreciative Jim
Currie.
Lastly, away to Hawick PSA tomorrow are Peebles Colts whose coach Graeme
Paterson describes Saturday’s 41-26 home win over Kelso Quins as “A great
game for neutral fans – very entertaining with plenty of attacking rugby
played!”
Members are reminded of the M.A.D. coffee morning in the Eastgate
clubrooms tomorrow morning 10:00am till 12:00 noon – get along and support
M.A.D. before getting down to Netherdale to support the boys!
And in reference to facial hair, the Director of Rugby’s moustache was
only one of many grown by players and others associated with the first team –
having sponsored themselves a donation will be sent to ENABLE – the charity
which supported the late Felicity Barker.
