GYTES GOSSIP For PN 23 November 2007

Ardrossan Ahoy!

It’s an astonishing fact that – should Peebles win tomorrow’s league tussle at Ardrossan (KO 2:00) – it’d be their 7th successive away win of the season.

Not that there’ll be any complacency locally among those who remember that Ardrossan followed their September loss at The Gytes with a 27-16 success at home to previously undefeated Dunfermline.

Meanwhile, news from the Peebles Travelling Failthful (yes, rugby’s answer to the Tartan Army) is that Gordon Sanderson won last weekend’s Villeneuve prize.

But who’ll win it at Ardrossan tomorrow?

Be there and find out – it might be you!

After Saturday’s 15-24 loss at Haddington (where Peebles’ subs numbered a mere two) 2nds player-coach Keith Nisbet hopes his boys “get off on a winning streak” at home to Berwick tomorrow.

Special mention goes to faithful fans and helpers, especially Eddie Simpson, Jim Steven, Allan Beveridge, Robin Wilson and Peter Irvine.

Peebles Colts also meet Berwick opponents tomorrow, but away from home.

Last weekend, no fewer than 37 players got competitive rugby experience with the Colts and the development team. Just as impressive is the total of 29 youngsters who regularly feature at training.

And finally, coach Graeme Paterson praises the “excellent touchline support” given by such as Arthur Crittell, Kim and Ian Jackson (both vocal and medical support), the Carriers, Ally Clyde and Lindsay Laird of Colts sponsors Bryant Homes. Well done all of you.
