Irrepressible Jim

Exciting though Saturday's Gala clash may have been, it was the first time the Gytes men have failed to score a try in any game since mid-September 2006 at Dunfermline.
It's a situation Peebles (now third in the table) will seek to rectify away to 5th-placed Perthshire tomorrow.
Unbeaten at home this term, the North Inch men have a poorer away record, losing 22-31 at Livingston last weekend.
Meanwhile Peebles 2nd's player coach Jim Currie reports a fine 30-13 win over Kelso in Friday's Border Farm Supplies tussle.
Fans of both the Seconds and the Colts, check the noticeboard please for details of any friendlies arranged for this weekend.
Further news (of the belated kind) from the irrepressible Jim is that Peebles RFC "won their first silverware of the season" with their tug-of-war team's success at the Peebles Show.
Well done to team members Neil "I was there" Cruikshank, Ross Ferguson, Euan Jackson, Trevor Keen and his pal Joe - reportedly a former All Black.
Lastly, a source of hilarity to fans from both sides at the Gytes on Saturday was announcer Dick Askew and his comments on each of the 3 second-half sin-binnings dished out by referee Ian Grant. (Gala incidentally won the bin count 2-1.)
For Dick did so in a variety of amusing ways without once mentioning the words "sin bin" or indeed "yellow card."
            How's that for eloquence?
