It’s early days for a Premier III crunch match, but that’s what
tomorrow’s Gytes clash with Dunfermline could be. (KO 3:00pm)
Peebles hope to have Farmer and Hunter back in action but Cruikshank and
MacDonald are unavailable.
Could there be a repeat of the Livingston try-feast or is a kicking duel
featuring the Anderson Borthwick combo v the boot of the Fifers’ metronomic
McColl a more likely scenario? Be there and see.
Meanwhile, buoyed by Peebles’ 2nds first-ever win over Melrose on
Saturday, team manager Alan Beveridge says, “If we could field a full-strength
XV every week we’d be challenging for this year’s Border Farm Supplies
Championship.”
Asked to list a couple of Peebles’ outstanding performers at the Gytes,
Bev named McConnell, Harvey, D. Brown, Kerr, Maciver, Charters, Gibson and Mark
Thomson – and of course Peebles try-scoring VP Jim Currie.
While Gala, away, are the 2nds next opponents, Colts fans please note
that Peebles High School is the venue for tomorrow’s league joust with
Berwick.
Elsewhere, organiser Davie Wilson proudly reports 55 minis turned up for
Sunday’s Open Day. For details of this weekend’s activities, please check
today’s Piranhas News section.
Lastly, concerning the Peebles RFC website, secretary John Swanson
comments, “The club are aware the website is currently behind the times. But
we’re looking at new options to get it up and running in the next two weeks at
most.”
